Lighting Sketch Series 2: Museum

I photographed the Weatherspoon Art Museum. They mostly used track lighting in their gallery spaces however, they did have a little natural light coming into the space. They also had accent lighting in the hallways.

Lighting Evaluation 2-9-09

As a group, we evaluated the critique space on the fourth floor of the Gatewood building, at night. We agreed that this space was open and inviting for its classroom and critique space use. The dimly lit room contains only track lighting with no overhead florescent lights, creating a relaxing atmosphere for learning. There is a small amount of light that seeps in from the surrounding overhead lamps in the upper studio space through the open ceiling plan within the critique room. The large classroom has an intimate feel, because of the warm track lighting that is focused on the four walls that bring a sense of separation from the surrounding studio spaces. Overall, we thought that this space was more enjoyable at night, than during the daytime.

We did the lighting for a restaurant. We focused on ambient luminescence lighting, which minimizes the importance of all things and people. We experimented with what light did different textures and materials.
